Indian industrialist, one of the biggest philanthropists, and a former chairman of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata is beyond these positions and fame. For his remarkable contributions towards the national building and taking it to the global level, he was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan in 2008 and Padma Bhushan in 2000 by the government of India.

1) Be a visionary

Under Ratan Tata’s leadership, Tata Sons acquired global brands like Tetley, Jaguar Land Rover, and Taj Boston. He teaches us to be visionary in our life. When he took the reins of the company, Tata was operating only in India, he visioned and led the company to the global level. Currently, half of the revenues come from overseas. Ratan Tata is the perfect example of an ideal living personality who has overcome each stone stopping not only his career but also the bright future of our country.

2) Taking Risks

“I don’t believe in taking the right decisions. I take decisions and then make them right.” Taking risks is inevitable in life. As a leader, one is supposed to take steps beyond his risk appetite to lead the company to greater heights. From acquiring companies like Jaguar and Land Rover, Fords to covering Corus, the second-largest steel-making company in Europe, Ratan Tata has left a significant impact by taking risky moves and has efficiently managed all of them to work for the good of the company.

Being a famous personality, Ratan Tata has acquired the art of taking criticism in a positive way. He once said, ‘Take the stones people throw at you and use them to build a monument.’ It is not necessary that every time you take a decision which is welcomed by everyone. He has also a substantial stake in developing Chinese companies like tech giant Xiaomi and leading e-commerce platform Snapdeal.

5) Welfare of the society

Ratan Tata is a strong supporter of quality education, rural development, and medicine. He is one of the biggest philanthropists of India. Over 65% of his shares are invested in charitable activities. Tata Education and Development Trust, a philanthropic affiliate of Tata’s work towards the welfare of the country. More than $28 million is endowed to provide financial aid to undergraduate Indian students at Cornell University. He provided complete aid to the affected families of the 26/11 attack and visited every family personally. He sets the example of humanity and kindness in society.

Ratan Tata is widely popular for his humility, and examples showcasing the same are uncountable. The Godfather of the corporate world believes that doing business is religious. Records can be built or broken but respect cannot be replaced. One has to work hard and cross every obstacle that comes across to halt your voyage.
