Hacking plays a crucial role in the security of everything, even the device you’re using right now is protected only because it was hacked. In the last couple of decades, India has been able to nurture some great Indian talents for hacking. This is a list of 10 of the best hackers in India.

But before beginning this list, do you know what hacking is? Hacking is the process of breaching and exploiting the weaknesses of any computer system or network. There are broadly two types of hackers, ethical hackers and unethical or blackhat hackers. Ethical hackers, penetrate the firewalls of the system in an attempt to find bugs and exploitations on any system to improve its defences so that no one else can exploit them whereas blackhat hackers do this for personal gain.

This is a comprehensive list of 10 of the best ethical hackers in India and their achievements so far. 

Vivek Ramachandran

Vivek Ramachandra is the Founder and CEO of Pentester Academy and SecurityTube Training which are very prominent institutes that work toward providing knowledge about ethical hacking and cyber security. He is an internationally acclaimed security researcher who has saved a number of companies and also does major work with government agencies. He has been awarded by companies like Microsoft, and Cisco and has solved numerous cybercrime cases. 

Sunny Vaghela

Sunny Vaghela started his hacking journey at the young age of 18 years when he made people aware of the security loopholes in SMS and Call forging of mobile networks. He also started a website where any cyber-related complaint was solved. At the age of 19 he managed to find security loopholes in Orkut which was a prominent social media site at the time. At the age of 20, Sunny helped the Ahmedabad crime branch to solve many cybercrime-related offences. Sunny Vaghela is also the founder of tech defence labs which is a cyber security firm.

Koushik Dutta

Koushik Dutta earned his fame as one of the best hackers in India mostly by finding flaws in the Android operating system. He is a true fan of android devices as he dropped his internship at Microsoft just to work on the security of android phones. He also rejected an offer from Sony just to work at ClockworkMod to develop a mobile platform that is a safer option for android phones. 

Rahul Tyagi

Rahul Tyagi is a determined man with more than 5 years of experience in this field and is a master in his skills. He has conducted more than 100 training sessions just to spread awareness and knowledge about cyber security. He regularly provides his services to various cyber security organisations in India. Rahul Tyagi is currently employed with a company known as Vice President Lucideus and is working on a platform known as Safe Me which solely aims toward awareness and security against cybercrimes. He also has his name in the Blackberry Hall of Fame.

Anand Prakash

Anand Prakash is India’s bug bounty champion. He has helped companies like Facebook, Uber, and Twitter in finding loopholes and securing them. He is the founder of a cyber security startup known as AppSecure which was featured in the Forbes under 30 list of Asia 2017. His company is a prominent player in providing cybersecurity services to big firms and also helps other companies rub bug bounty programs.

Trishneet Arora

Trishneet Arora is one of the best hackers in India who is also against hacking. He is the founder and CEO of TAC Security and has some major clients like Reliance Industries, Central Bureau of Investigation, etc. He is also an author and has written many books on topics related to cyber security, ethical hacking, and web defence. 

Sangeet Chopra

Sangeet Chopra is an ethical hacker and an IT security specialist. He is also a world-renowned public speaker and has done many workshops on cyber security all over the world. Currently, he is employed as an information security consultant for a company known as Cybercure Technologies Private Limited.

Sai Sathish

Sai Sathish is the founder and CEO of Indian Servers. He believes more in teaching the new generation about cyber security and ethical hacking and has already taught thousands of students from all over the world. He works closely with the government to increase the security of various official websites. He also assists in tasks like web server security, safe online transactions, and forensic investigation.

Falgun Rathod

Falgun Rathod is widely known for his hacking into Asia’s Largest and most secured E-Governance Website which is the website of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Falgun is also famous for solving many complex cybercrime cases. He is also the founder and mentor in India’s biggest bug bounty challenge at BugsXploration. He is also a prominent figure in spreading awareness about cyber security among the people of India. 

Benild Joseph

Benild Joseph is a security researcher and limca book record holder among various other things. He is also a former director of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, New Delhi, and has definitive experience in the field of computer security. Currently, Benild Joseph is the President of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA). He has been named among the top 10 ethical hackers in India by various sources like the Microsoft social forum and Silicon India Magazine.
